Club del Modelo de las Naciones Unidas MUN Club

Model United Nations Club (MUN Club)

This club is designed to provide an introduction to the activities of the United Nations, as well as an understanding of the modalities of international diplomacy. This course will cover current events, pressing international issues, the fundamentals of international law, and some of the protocols and procedures of diplomacy.

The Model UN club is designed to familiarize students with the operations of the United Nations through the study of the political positions of member countries. Furthermore, students should develop an understanding of how to use simulation activities as a means of teaching and learning about the political perspectives of different nationalities on contemporary world issues.

Upon completion of the club, students will be able to:

  • To articulate the foreign policy of the selected country.
  • Define the general structures and procedures of the United Nations.
  • Describe important historical problems affecting the UN and evaluate the effectiveness of the organization.
  • Analyze a problem currently before the United Nations from the perspective of the selected member nation.
  • Understand and competently use the rules of procedure, diplomatic protocol and negotiation techniques common to UN delegates.
  • Explain the rationale, format, and instructional methods of the Model United Nations simulation.
